I ask you to vote for me on April 10 for the HW School Committee.
I graduated with a Physics degree from the University of Melbourne, Australia. What brought me to America was my senior executive role in Air pollution measurement and control in Australia, the USA and eventually globally. In recent years I was also CEO and a Board member of a tele-mental-health company. I have a passionate commitment to public health, which my family have been involved in across all the generations. As a current member of the HW School Committee, I am very conscious of the role schools play in public health. This in turn has an outsized impact on learning and test scores.
In my first term on the school committee I have worked on finding areas to save such as the move to electronic busses where we were awarded over $4 million in an EPA grant. I also helped arrange for
National Grid to fund a detailed energy optimization study of all five schools.
I believe we can improve all five schools in evidence-based ways that improve learning , test scores and reduce absenteeism.
I systematically look for ways to improve outcomes and hope you will elect a school committee that has shown a commitment to engaging with evidence in their decision making. Sadly, I believe proceeding with the Cutler consolidation would beggar the funding of much needed improvements to the other three schools. We need a school committee that will reform the school building committee and give us a more balanced program of consequential improvements for all five schools, as was envisaged in the 2014 school district strategic plan.
I long-distance swim regularly at Gordon college and am an enthusiastic fan of Australian-rules-football as well as NFL. Video production, editing and making Access TV political programs as well as Memoirs of technology pioneers I have known. I am a history buff, especially the two world wars of the 20th Century. A voracious non-fiction reader.
Love driving around New England. Love vacationing in the region. Love to travel overseas and have felt frustrated by Covid making that impossible for this past two years. Last trip to Australia was late 2023. Love the restaurant scene, which for now is only outdoor dining. Love musical live theater. Spending time with family here and in Melbourne Australia and Santa Clara CA.
